About The Position

Amerita is seeking a Referral & Intake Specialist to join its Intake team at a branch location. The role is responsible for timely clearance of new referrals and works in coordination with Sales, Pharmacy, Access, and clinical staff to process patient referrals and admissions. The specialist gathers patient information to create records, communicates insurance coverage and payment responsibilities to patients and referral sources, and helps maintain a calm, supportive, and compassionate experience. The position reports to the General Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, either 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures.
Understanding of the scope of services Amerita can provide.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Process referrals received from referral sources.
Ensure all required documentation is received to process referrals promptly.
Ensure Intake referral checklists are complete.
Enter patient demographic, clinical, insurance, and authorization information into the computer system.
Coordinate with Sales, Access, and clinical staff regarding referral status, authorization requirements, and out-of-pocket costs that must be collected before delivery.
Ensure insurance verification is completed and the patient has accepted financial responsibility before the initial shipment.
Document progress notes in the computer system.
Notify patients and caregivers about insurance coverage and payment responsibilities.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
