About The Position

The Revenue and Referral Intake Specialist (RRIS) supports patients, providers, and staff with a variety of complex tasks, including initial patient registration, scheduling evaluations, referral processing, insurance authorization, and charge and coding review. The role serves as a link between patients and physician referrals, providing information and support while treating all parties with dignity.

Requirements

• Associate degree in business or healthcare, or equivalent experience.
• Standard office computer and keyboarding experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Knowledge of insurance and managed care practices.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals and prior authorizations promptly and in accordance with the department’s financial, customer service, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor the charge capture process to ensure timely handling and compliance with department standards.
• Respond to patient inquiries about referral issues and follow up with patients and other key parties until issues are resolved.
• Schedule patient evaluation appointments according to the scheduling protocol for the applicable Legacy Program.
• Support patients, providers, and staff with initial patient registration, referral, insurance authorization, and charge and coding review tasks.
