About The Position

The Revenue and Referral Intake Specialist (RRIS) supports patients, providers, and staff with a variety of complex tasks, including initial patient registration, scheduling evaluations, referrals, insurance authorizations, and charge and coding review. The role serves as an important link between patients and physician referrals, providing information to support a positive experience and treating all parties with dignity.

Requirements

• An associate degree in business or healthcare, or equivalent experience.
• Standard office computer and keyboarding experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Knowledge of insurance and managed care practices.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals and prior authorizations promptly to meet departmental financial, customer service, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor the charge capture process to ensure timely handling and compliance with departmental financial, customer service, and regulatory standards.
• Respond to patient inquiries about referral issues and follow up with patients and other key parties until issues are resolved.
• Schedule patient evaluation appointments according to the scheduling protocol for the applicable Legacy Program.
• Support initial patient registration, referral, insurance authorization, and charge and coding review tasks.
