About The Position

The Medical Receptionist is the key contact between GPs, the care team and patients at Guardian Medical Hawthorn. The role helps create a welcoming, personal and supportive healthcare experience for the practice’s local patient community, building relationships with patients and supporting GPs to deliver connected care. The position offers scope to take initiative, contribute ideas, improve the patient and practice experience, broaden skills, take on greater responsibility and pursue development opportunities within the practice and across Bupa.

Requirements

• A warm, professional and patient-focused approach.
• Confidence managing appointment bookings, patient enquiries and competing priorities.
• Experience processing payments, Medicare or health insurance claims, and billing enquiries.
• Strong attention to detail when registering patients and maintaining confidential information.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with GPs, clinical teams and the local patient community.
• A proactive mindset and confidence taking ownership of the reception function.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute ideas that help the practice grow and improve.
• Genuine interest in developing skills and building a longer-term career in healthcare.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist in a GP or healthcare setting is highly regarded.
• Experience using Best Practice is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and help create a supportive experience from their arrival at the practice.
