About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist, the Imaging Student Extern performs tasks and procedures related to imaging that were learned in class, practiced in school, and demonstrated competently during clinical rotations at a Tenet Hospital.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time student in good standing at an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• AHA BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Computer skills are preferred, including experience working with PACS (digital imaging) computers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technologist with imaging procedures and may position patients for specified X-ray exams according to department protocols and procedures.
• Transport patients as necessary.
• Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety standards, and environmental standards.
• Work with Radiologists to support smooth department operations.
• Prepare written documentation required by department and hospital policies to record the patient's history of illness or injury during radiology care.
• Ensure equipment functions and work areas are orderly and clean.
• Check the availability of supplies and accessories necessary to perform exams.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organization, and function well in stressful situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested that are within capabilities, with reasonable accommodations.
