About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist, the Imaging Student Extern performs tasks and procedures related to imaging that were learned in class and practiced in the school setting, as well as demonstrated during clinical rotations at a Tenet Hospital.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student in good standing at an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• AHA BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Computer skills, as part of the job involves working on the PACS (digital imaging) computer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technologist with imaging procedures; may position patients for specified X-ray exams according to department protocols and procedures, and transport patients as necessary.
• Follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety standards, and environmental standards.
• Work with Radiologists to support smooth department operations.
• Prepare written documentation required by department and hospital policies to record the history of a patient's illness or injury during radiology care.
• Ensure equipment functions and keep work areas orderly and clean.
• Check the availability of supplies and accessories needed to perform exams.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organization, and function well in stressful situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested that are within capabilities, with reasonable accommodations.
