About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist, the Imaging Student Extern performs tasks and procedures related to imaging and the imaging process that were learned in class and practiced in a school setting. These tasks must also have been practiced with demonstrated competency during clinical rotations at a Tenet Hospital.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student in good standing at an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, or be a recent graduate.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Computer skills, as part of the job involves working with the PACS digital imaging computer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technologist with imaging procedures and may position patients for specified X-ray exams according to department protocols and procedures.
• Transport patients as necessary.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety and environmental standards.
• Work with Radiologists to support the smooth operation of the department.
• Prepare written documentation required by department and hospital policies to record the history of a patient's illness or injury during their course of care in radiology.
• Ensure equipment functions and maintain orderliness and cleanliness in work areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested that are within capabilities, with reasonable accommodations.
