About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist, the Imaging Student Extern performs imaging-related tasks and procedures learned in class and practiced in school, as well as demonstrated during clinical rotations at a Tenet Hospital. The position supports imaging procedures, patient positioning and transport, documentation, equipment readiness, and department operations.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student in good standing at an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• AHA BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Computer skills, as the job includes working on the PACS (digital imaging) computer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the technologist with imaging procedures and may position patients for specified X-ray exams according to department protocols and procedures.
• Transport patients as necessary.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety and environmental standards.
• Work with Radiologists to support smooth department operations.
• Prepare written documentation required by department and hospital policies, including recording the patient's illness or injury history during radiology care.
• Ensure equipment functions and maintain orderly, clean work areas.
• Check the availability of supplies and accessories needed to perform exams.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organization, and function effectively in stressful situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested that are within capabilities, with reasonable accommodations.
