Public Administration Intern

About The Position

Chatham County, GA Government is seeking a Public Administration Intern to support the Board of Commissioners through policy research, administrative projects, meeting coordination, and community engagement. The internship offers hands-on experience in local government and public service and an opportunity to develop research, writing, and communication skills while contributing to the community. Two positions are available. This is a temporary, part-time internship with variable hours; interns must be available on weekdays, evenings, and some weekends. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, the intern may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Currently enrolled in a college or university and working toward a bachelor's degree or higher in Public Administration or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Must be available on weekdays, evenings, and some weekends.
May be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team during emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of or skills in social media, research, and writing.
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration obtained within the past year.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities

Provide general administrative support to County Commissioners.
Perform policy research and analysis.
Respond to public inquiries by email or phone.
Create email templates.
Coordinate meetings.
Create communication and community engagement templates for use across multiple platforms.
Assist citizens promptly and courteously with service requests.
Perform other duties as assigned.
