The position also includes shared governance and service at the department, college, and university levels. Faculty must organize all classes in Canvas and demonstrate awareness of the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. The School offers several professional graduate programs, including accredited MPA and Master of Urban Planning programs, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs in geographic information sciences, environmental studies, geography, and global studies. The College of Social Sciences emphasizes equitable and inclusive teaching and learning, faculty development, student success, community-engaged scholarship, and a culture of support and belonging. Applicants are invited to submit a Statement of Institutional Excellence describing how their lived and professional experiences can contribute to the SJSU community, particularly student success. The position is based in California and requires an on-campus presence. Employment is contingent on US residence, eligibility to work in the United States, and satisfactory background and reference checks. Target start date: August 17, 2027. The anticipated annual salary range is $88,008–$130,008, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank. Faculty benefits are described as very competitive for the higher education sector.
