About The Position

The Jacobs School of Music is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in the Department of Strings, focusing on Double Bass. The ideal candidate will possess a significant and accomplished background as a performer and educator at a national or international level. They should be capable of collaborating effectively with faculty and motivating students within a professional educational setting.

Requirements

  • Extensive and successful background as a performer at the highest national and/or international level.
  • Extensive and successful background as a teacher at the highest national and/or international level.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty colleagues.
  • Ability to inspire students in a professionally-oriented educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach double bass students across all degree and diploma programs, from freshman to doctoral levels.
  • Conduct studio classes.
  • Potentially teach orchestral repertoire classes.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, recruitment activities, and auditions.
  • Serve on doctoral committees and recital hearing committees.
  • Engage in other departmental activities such as faculty recitals and outreach events.
  • Conduct master classes.
  • Serve on Jacobs School of Music committees.
  • Participate in other similar activities.
