About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by helping Members with product knowledge and customer service and ensuring produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The clerk inspects, rotates, and stores deliveries; keeps sales-floor displays stocked, fresh, neat, and clean; maintains organized reserve stock; follows disposal guidelines for damaged, spoiled, or expired products; and cleans and sanitizes produce equipment and display areas. The role also supports inventory and order processing, creates signage, checks prices, follows club policies and procedures, and may perform other duties or work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.

• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; lifting and moving heavy or awkward objects over 50 pounds may be required with assistance.
• Frequently move about and position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe-handling tips, and helping them find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce deliveries, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products no longer suitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back-stock items and keeping the area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Provide friendly, positive service, address Member concerns, and support a safe and positive environment.
• Work with the team to meet club standards, including stocking items, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping areas clean and organized.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
