About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains department conditions, assists Members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensures produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The Produce Clerk helps deliver a safe, positive, clean, and organized club experience by following company policies and procedures, working collaboratively, and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members locate products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store deliveries of produce, ensuring received products meet or exceed company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage for produce items and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support club standards by working as a team to keep items stocked, execute promotional plans, maintain accurate signage, and keep areas clean and organized.
• Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for the department and recognize how execution can affect business results.
