Porter (Full Time)
About The Position
Canteen is hiring a full-time Porter in Hayward, California. The role maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the front of the house, including tables, counters, floors, windows, beverage stations, and display equipment. The schedule is full-time, with days varying and hours from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; further details are provided during the interview. Previous experience is preferred, and training is available. The position may require lifting up to 50 to 70 pounds. The fixed pay rate is $26.40 per hour. The Porter supports meal service by bussing and cleaning tables, clearing and sweeping floors, transporting dishes safely, washing dishes and cookware, and cleaning cooking stations and equipment. The role also helps receive and move heavy deliveries to storage, follows food safety and sanitation standards including HACCP, and observes company safety procedures and policies.

Responsibilities
- Bus, clear, and clean tables; clear and sweep floors during peak service times and prepare them before service.
- Safely transport dishes and utensils from the front of the house to the kitchen using trays, bus tubs, or carts.
- Wash dishes, glasses, and pots; clean cooking stations and equipment to support smooth service and maintain sanitation standards.
- Scrape and rinse food from dishes, then wash them by hand or load them into racks or a dishwashing machine as assigned.
- Keep display equipment clean, free of debris, and compliant with safety and sanitation standards during meal service.
- Help receive heavy deliveries from the dock and transport them to assigned storage areas using safe lifting standards.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, and follow HACCP standards.
- Follow company safety policies, including use of appropriate gloves, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
