About The Position

The Porter maintains and cleans the building’s common areas, indoors and outdoors, to keep them clean, safe, and sanitary. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and may include Saturdays. The position is located in New York, NY 10002, with a stated rate of $36,400 per year ($20.00 per hour).

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on knowledge of maintenance trades.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, mop, wash, and maintain common areas, including the dining area, bathrooms, elevator, lobby, hallways, waiting areas, roof drains, and laundry rooms if applicable.
• Empty trash and place it in appropriate receptacles outside the building on designated days.
• Sweep and clean the area in front of the building.
• Remove snow and apply salt on snow or storm days to help keep the area safe for building occupants and the public.
• Replenish toilet accessories and request replacements as needed.
• Keep walls free of graffiti and clean windows, walls, and other identified surfaces.
• Assist tenants with moving belongings into or out of the building if applicable.
• Transport supplies into the building.
• Post appropriate signs to help ensure resident and staff safety while cleaning.
• Fill in for other porter or handyman staff who are on vacation or out for the day.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
