About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices. The role leads definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development, including architecture and logic design, system simulation, and defining module interfaces and formats for simulation. It leads development of multidimensional designs involving complex integrated-circuit layouts and makes technical decisions across the process flow, from high-level designs through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use. The engineer serves as a technical leader across project or departmental boundaries, drives projects or processes of significant technical importance, and applies engineering principles, best practices, and technology to the design, development, and testing of AMD products. No travel is required. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, and five years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
• Four years of experience in hardware and software verification.
• Four years of experience in graphics IP architecture verification.
• Four years of experience in functional verification of microprocessors.
• Four years of experience in the physical design process.
• Four years of experience with TCL or Perl.
• Four years of experience with CPU architecture or GPU architecture.
• Four years of experience in memory management and multi-threading.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices.
• Lead definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development.
• Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation.
• Define module interfaces and formats for simulation.
• Lead development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.
• Evaluate and make technical decisions across the process flow, from high-level designs through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use.
• Serve as a technical leader across project or departmental boundaries to develop ASIC or layout design and address issues affecting design or selling success, as well as future concepts, products, or technologies.
• Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance and determine objectives and approaches for critical assignments.
• Apply expertise in computers and electronics, engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to resolve critical issues and design matters and to develop and test AMD products.
