Silicon Design Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•Austin, TX

About The Position

AMD is hiring a Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing. The role applies knowledge of electronic theory to ASIC development, including definition, design, verification, and documentation. Responsibilities span architecture and logic design, system simulation, defining module interfaces and simulation formats, and contributing to multidimensional designs involving complex integrated-circuit layout. The engineer evaluates the process flow from high-level design through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use, and applies engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to AMD product design, development, and testing. The role addresses problems of moderate scope, exercises limited judgment under supervision and within defined procedures, and selects methods and evaluation criteria to obtain results. No travel is required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in the job offered or a closely related software or design engineering role. Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
  • Experience performing hardware and software verification.
  • Experience with embedded driver development and programming.
  • Experience with C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience with CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture.
  • Experience with design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.
  • Experience with ASIC design and tools, including synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing.
  • Perform definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development.
  • Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation.
  • Define module interfaces and formats for simulation.
  • Contribute to multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.
  • Evaluate the design process flow from high-level designs through synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use.
  • Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD products.
