About The Position

The Restaurant Server is an engaging and enthusiastic ambassador for The Hive restaurant. The server anticipates guests’ appetites through verbal and non-verbal cues, makes recommendations, and sells menu items while working accurately and efficiently, prioritizing tasks, and exceeding guest expectations. The position reports to the Restaurant Managers and Food & Beverage Director.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent education.
Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
Basic math skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to speak, read, and understand English.
Clean and professional appearance.
Enthusiasm for 21c.
Familiarity with and ability to use POS systems.
Must pass a background check.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Ability to carry a full service tray comfortably.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience in an upscale dining environment.

Responsibilities

Report to work on time and ready for the scheduled shift.
Follow all steps of service.
Know the descriptions and ingredients of all menu items.
Know all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list across varying price ranges and styles.
Know drink names, ingredients, preparation methods, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
Know specialty beverages, including single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, and beers.
Sell menu items with the goal of increasing overall sales.
Serve beverages and food cheerfully and efficiently.
Ensure the service station is properly stocked.
Complete all posted side work.
Maintain a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
Provide a prompt, accurate report of all income received during the shift.
Maintain a clean, orderly appearance of the restaurant service area.
Assist with and execute tasks assigned by a supervisor.
Follow proper sanitation guidelines.
