About The Position
Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital in Sparks, Nevada. The Phlebotomy Supervisor position is full time at 40 hours per week and has a day-shift schedule. The role performs venipuncture and skin puncture competently and efficiently, with a working knowledge of test requirements, and assists in the clinical laboratory. Responsibilities include collecting venous, blood culture, and capillary samples, as well as coordinating phlebotomy staff schedules and covering vacant shifts due to sick time or PTO.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- State Laboratory Assistant licensure.
- At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proof of a clean driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Supervisor experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Draw blood competently, consistently, and efficiently while minimizing patient discomfort.
- Know which collection tube and blood volume are required for tests.
- Assist laboratory technicians and perform clerical work when needed.
- Schedule phlebotomy staff and handle vacant shifts caused by sick time or PTO.
- Perform venipuncture, skin puncture, blood cultures, and capillary blood collection.
