About The Position

CenterWell Pharmacy offers an unpaid Pharmacy Technician Externship for AZ College students enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician program. Externs rotate through various pharmacy stations in an onsite mail-order pharmacy setting and work alongside Pharmacy Technicians under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. The role is non-customer-facing and provides opportunities to shadow various departments.

This is a temporary position intended to meet AZ College's Pharmacy Technician program requirement of 160 externship hours. The position is onsite in Phoenix, Arizona. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students are scheduled for either four 10-hour shifts (5:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) or five 8-hour shifts (5:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.). Scheduled weekly hours are listed as 1.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a required Pharmacy Technician certification or degree program affiliated with AZ College.
• Hold an Arizona Technician in Training license.
• Complete and pass Humana's background check and drug screen.
• Adhere to the attendance policy.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT).
• Warehouse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mail-order distribution center in a non-customer-facing role.
• Fill prescription medications using automation technology.
• Check orders for accuracy and completeness of information.
• Assist Pharmacists with the safe distribution of medications and provision of pharmaceutical care.
• Work with the inventory supply team to ensure inventory levels are adequate for dispensing.
• Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Shadow various departments.
