About The Position

CenterWell Pharmacy offers unpaid Pharmacy Technician Externships for AZ College students currently enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician program. Externs rotate through pharmacy stations in a mail-order pharmacy setting and work alongside Pharmacy Technicians under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. This temporary position fulfills AZ College’s requirement for 160 externship hours. It is onsite in Phoenix, Arizona. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM–4:00 PM. Students are scheduled either for four 10-hour shifts (5:30 AM–4:00 PM) or five 8-hour shifts (5:30 AM–2:00 PM or 7:30 AM–4:00 PM).

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a required Pharmacy Technician certification or degree program affiliated with AZ College.
• Hold an AZ Technician in Training license.
• Complete and pass Humana’s background check and drug screen.
• Adhere to the attendance policy.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT).
• Warehouse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mail-order distribution center in a non-customer-facing role.
• Fill prescription medications using automation technology.
• Check orders for accuracy and completeness of information.
• Assist Pharmacists with safe medication distribution and the provision of pharmaceutical care.
• Help ensure adequate inventory levels for dispensing by working with the inventory supply team.
• Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Participate in shadowing opportunities with various departments.
