About The Position

The Pharmacy Customer Service Associate delivers a distinctive customer experience while providing checkout service and supporting pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The role uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with prescription preparation and pharmacy workflow in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies. The associate also performs store operations such as assisting customers, operating a cash register, merchandising and inventory tasks, maintaining store appearance, and providing services in the photo area. The position requires fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico), and a willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. The role includes completing designated training and maintaining required certification or registration.

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or meet state-required certification or registration requirements.

Nice To Haves

Six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prior work experience with Walgreens.
Good math skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
Good computer skills.
Knowledge of store inventory control.
PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and patients, offer assistance, resolve customer issues, and model customer service best practices.
Operate an assigned cash register; process purchases, cash payments, change, voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges.
Recommend products, trade-up items, and companion items, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised; take inventory, maintain records, check in and price merchandise, and construct and maintain displays.
Use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately and assist with filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, verifying the medicine, and checking for possible interactions.
Assist pharmacists with scheduling and maintaining workflow; report prescription errors immediately and follow company policies, the Pharmacy Code of Conduct, Good Faith Dispensing requirements, and Quality Improvement Program procedures.
Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
Correct and resubmit manual third-party prescription claims promptly and perform clerical duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assist with pharmaceutical inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments; address shipment overages, shortages, order errors, and damaged goods involving prescription drugs.
Comply with state and local laws concerning regulated products, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
Complete resets and revisions; assist with product placement, food separation, stock rotation using first-in, first-out, and restocking outs.
Provide photo-area customer service, including digital passport photos, poster printing, creative machine services, and promotion of photo products.
Monitor and fulfill web pickup orders in Picture Care Plus and deliver orders to customers when they arrive at the store.
Maintain clean, neat, and orderly interior and exterior store conditions; comply with company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or obtain state-required certification or registration.
Attend training, complete assigned PPLs, obtain continuing education credits, and maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.
