About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods, including fresh produce and the Our Family® portfolio of products, to locations in all 50 states. The Person in Charge directs and coordinates store operations in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management. The role helps ensure efficient and economical operations and that associates’ work shifts support the store’s financial interests. Other duties must be completed as assigned in a timely manner.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Suggestive selling and knowledge of products.
Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Monitor associates’ adherence to company policies.
Operate the cashier register and courtesy counter desk, and handle customer concerns efficiently.
Know the store layout and the locations of safety and emergency equipment.
Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide feedback to department managers.
Maintain the time clock in the absence of the Store Director or specified department manager.
May close the store by locking doors, including receiving, turning off lights, and arming the store.
Know product locations to assist customers.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked store.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
May perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
