About The Position

The Person In Charge directs and coordinates store operations when the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management is absent. The role supports efficient and economical operations and ensures associates’ work shifts contribute to the store’s financial interests. The position may also perform other duties as assigned. The role includes monitoring associates’ adherence to company policies; assisting customers at the cashier register and courtesy counter; inspecting store areas and providing feedback to department managers; maintaining the time clock when designated management is absent; and, when assigned, closing and securing the store. The associate helps customers locate products and supports a clean, attractive, well-stocked store while following safety, food safety, cleaning, PPE, and guest experience guidelines. Tasks may be assigned in other departments based on customer experience needs. The position is based at 6127 Kalamazoo SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508. The work environment is a retail store with varied temperatures, possible exposure to outdoor weather conditions, and usually low to moderate noise. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Suggestive selling and product knowledge.
Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate store operations in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management.
Monitor associates’ adherence to company policies.
Operate the cashier register and courtesy counter desk and handle customer concerns efficiently.
Know the store layout and the locations of safety and emergency equipment.
Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide feedback to department managers.
Maintain the time clock when the Store Director or specified department manager is absent.
Close and secure the store when assigned, including locking doors, turning off lights, and arming the store.
Assist customers by locating products in the store.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked store.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Complete other duties as assigned in a timely manner.
