About The Position
As part of SpartanNash, a food solutions company and member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, the Person in Charge directs and coordinates store operations in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management. The role supports efficient and economical operations and ensures associates’ work shifts contribute to the store’s financial interests. Other duties must be completed as assigned. The position is based at 4668 Cascade Rd, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546. It involves working in a retail store environment with varied temperatures, possible exposure to outside weather conditions, and noise that is usually low to moderate. Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- One year of retail or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Suggestive selling and product knowledge.
- Attention to detail.
- May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Responsibilities
- Monitor associates’ adherence to company policies.
- Operate the cashier register and courtesy counter desk and handle customer concerns efficiently.
- Know the store layout and the locations of safety and emergency equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide feedback to department managers.
- Maintain the time clock in the absence of the Store Director or specified department manager.
- When assigned, close the store by locking doors, including receiving, turning off lights, arming the store, and completing related tasks.
- Know product locations in the store to assist customers.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked store.
- Follow personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines.
- Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
- Follow guest experience guidelines.
- Perform tasks in other departments as assigned to meet customer experience needs.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
