About The Position

The Person In Charge directs and coordinates store operations when the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management is absent. The role helps ensure efficient and economical operations and that associates’ work contributes to the store’s financial interests. The associate may also perform other duties as assigned in a timely manner. The position involves monitoring associates’ compliance with company policies, assisting customers and handling cashier and courtesy counter activities, inspecting store areas, and supporting a clean, attractive, well-stocked store. The associate follows safety, personal protective equipment, food safety, cleaning, and guest experience guidelines, and may work in other departments as needed to support customer experience. Work takes place in a retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions; travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Suggestive selling and product knowledge.
Detail-oriented.
Able to meet the physical requirements, including frequent lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds, occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds, and standing and walking for extended periods; may also bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate store operations in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, or other management.
Monitor associates’ adherence to company policies.
Operate a cashier register and courtesy counter desk and handle customer concerns efficiently.
Know the store layout and the location of safety and emergency equipment.
Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide feedback to department managers.
Maintain the time clock in the absence of the Store Director or specified department manager.
May close the store, including locking doors, turning off lights, and arming the store.
Know product locations to assist customers.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked store.
Follow personal protective equipment and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
May perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
