Person In Charge (PIC)

Albertsons Companies•North Bend, WA

About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service as a primary contact for customers. In the absence of the Store Manager and First and Second Assistant Managers, the PIC is in charge of the store and has analogous authority to make necessary operating decisions focused on profitability, efficiency, and customer service. When in charge, generally at night, the PIC supervises store employees. The position also performs Cashier-Checker duties and may require work in many store departments. The PIC handles customer service and complaints, emergencies, and employee or customer accidents; supervises store personnel and the sales floor; supports replenishment and checkout-area displays; helps maintain a clean and safe store; assists cashiers with equipment issues; and performs basic office functions. Cashier duties include operating a scanning register, receiving payment and giving correct change, bagging groceries, and assisting with carry-out when a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable. The PIC may also complete end-of-day office functions, count out-of-stock products, and count tills. The role is performed almost entirely indoors, with rare outdoor work. It involves frequent standing and walking and regular handling, reaching, and repetitive motions. The position is safety-sensitive. Permits or licenses vary by store location and state or county requirements.
