The Permit Coordinator compiles data and paperwork to support processing local building, zoning, and planning permits and approvals, as well as State and Federal environmental permit applications and approvals. The role works closely with CAD and Install teams to identify necessary permits and approvals and plans, delivers, manages, and coordinates project permitting. The coordinator investigates local, state, and federal permitting requirements and interprets applicable regulations. The position leads permitting for assigned projects, from preparing and submitting applications through tracking approvals, documenting progress, updating clients and internal staff, and meeting deadlines. It also involves communicating and coordinating with government authorities, researching jurisdiction-specific requirements, maintaining decision-maker information and permit records, tracking regulatory changes, and coordinating with project teams and permitting expeditors. The coordinator may work across multiple projects and departments, independently or collaboratively, and may assist SimplexGrinnell and Johnson Controls teams with permit matters. The hiring hourly range is $24–$28. The rate depends on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data. The position includes a competitive benefits package. Johnson Controls may use technology-assisted tools, including artificial intelligence, to help identify and evaluate candidates; hiring decisions are ultimately made by human reviewers.
