About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist supports patient-facing operations at Atrium Health Elizabeth Family Medicine. This full-time role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., for 40 hours per week. The position helps create an excellent patient experience by providing compassionate customer service and managing registration, insurance verification, scheduling, payment collection, and arrival and departure desk activities. It also maintains accurate and confidential patient information, supports billing functions, encourages use of front-end technology, and monitors specified inventory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Computer experience.
• Customer relations experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience.
• Interact with patients and families in sensitive situations using exemplary interpersonal skills.
• Use critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, and arrival or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines.
• Encourage patients to use front-end technology during registration.
• Enter and maintain confidential, accurate patient information, including insurance, billing, and payment information, throughout the patient encounter.
• Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct patients to the appropriate billing office.
• Demonstrate proficiency with emergency codes and appropriate responses, and follow applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
• Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications and equipment.
