About The Position

This on-site role in Sacramento, California, provides patient and client support while serving as a resident expert in the assigned area. The position is limited term, with an anticipated duration of six months; continued employment beyond the assignment is not guaranteed. The representative provides courteous service, helps ensure patient requests are addressed with minimal inconvenience, and maintains strict confidentiality. Responsibilities also include verifying patient demographic and insurance information, communicating appointment delays, confirming insurance eligibility and co-payments, processing daily batches and payments, explaining financial responsibilities, and answering phones as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of previous medical secretarial or office experience.
• Active CPR and BLS certification.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives.
• Demonstrated person-centered approach and familiarity with trauma-informed systems and restorative practices.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and courteously provide information and services requested by patients.
• Seek assistance from others when needed, inform patients or clients, explain who is being contacted, and ensure their requests are addressed while minimizing inconvenience.
• Maintain strict patient and client confidentiality.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Communicate appointment delays to patients and providers, including informing patients of wait times.
• Verify insurance eligibility and co-payments for HMO, PPO, and managed care plans.
• Create daily batches, collect co-payments, provide receipts, and obtain credit or debit card authorization as needed.
• Explain service terms and conditions and patients’ financial responsibility.
• Answer phones as needed.
