About The Position

UP Health System - Portage, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Patient Services Representative. The Patient Services Representative will facilitate the patient referral process, obtain pre-certifications, greet patients, manage check-in/check-out, schedule appointments, handle telephones and messages, and collect payments for co-pays, deductibles, and past due balances.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

Nice To Haves

• 2 years Medical Office experience Preferred.
• Experience with Medical Referrals Preferred

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the patient referral process and obtains appropriate pre-certifications as requested by the provider(s).
• Responsible for greeting patients; check-in, check-out, scheduling and managing telephones and messages.
• Collects and posts co-pays, deductibles and past due patient balances at the time of service.
