About The Position

Southcoast Health is seeking a Patient Services Ambassador (Dietary Aide) to perform duties that support customer and patient satisfaction. The role involves working with patients to ensure meal selections are made as close to mealtime as possible and are adjusted to dietary restrictions with the patient’s involvement. The position is based at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and is scheduled for 24 hours per week on the day shift, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with weekend and holiday rotation. The position reports to the Manager Patient Services or designee. Pay is determined by experience and ranges from $16.81 to $23.81 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED plus additional courses or training, or equivalent knowledge or experience, preferred.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of duties to ensure customer and patient satisfaction.
Ensure patient meal selections are made as close to mealtime as possible, as directed.
Adjust meal selections to diet restrictions with the patient.
Update and correct patient-selected menus only with the patient’s knowledge.
Use the menu correction guide and assigned dietitian as resources to avoid serious errors in menu correction.
Describe ingredients and features of all menu items.
Enter patient food preferences into the Patient Services Software Platform.
Use the EPIC Platform as needed or directed.
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
