About The Position

BJC Medical Group is hiring a full-time Patient Service Representative for its Family & Internal Medicine practice in O'Fallon, Missouri. The practice is located on the campus of Progress West Healthcare Center. This outpatient role focuses on patient check-in and front-office activity, helping direct patient flow, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient financial records. The representative may also serve as a switchboard operator as needed. The position is 40 hours per week on day shift and has no call, weekend, or holiday requirements. Medical office experience is preferred.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle telephone calls from patients and staff and forward calls requiring triage.
• Perform receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
• Verify health insurance payment information and educate patients about applicable regulations; collect payments and record data.
• Enter service charges, including assigning diagnostic codes and entering physician- and clinic-related charges.
• Coordinate information with the Central Billing Office to ensure charges are captured and properly collected.
• Perform patient check-ins and appointment scheduling, help direct patient flow, maintain patient financial records, and serve as a switchboard operator as needed.
