About The Position

A non-exempt medical office position responsible for front office processes in a physician practice. The role supports Tenet Physician Resources’ mission and policies, follows HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements, and supports the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by adhering to applicable laws and policies and reporting compliance concerns appropriately. The Patient Service Representative welcomes patients, handles calls and appointments, checks patients in and out, verifies demographics and insurance, processes referrals and charges, collects co-pays, and provides information about the practice and its patient portal.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a medical office assistant program.
Healthcare management or administration certification.

Responsibilities

Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
Follow the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Support the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by understanding and following applicable compliance responsibilities, laws, regulations, and policies, and reporting compliance concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
Greet patients entering the physician practice.
Answer office phones, make and confirm appointments, and reschedule appointments when necessary.
Check in patients, collect accurate demographic information, enter data into the electronic system, and verify insurance.
Assist with patient checkout, referral processing, and scheduling.
Collect co-pays and post charges.
Perform charge entry and patient balance processing.
Provide patients with information about office policies, procedures, and the practice.
Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal.
