About The Position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is a non-exempt medical office position responsible for front-office processes in a physician practice. The role supports patient access and office operations by greeting patients, managing appointments and phone calls, collecting and verifying patient information, processing payments and charges, assisting with referrals and scheduling, and explaining the patient portal. The position follows Tenet Physician Resources’ policies and procedures, HIPAA privacy standards, and corporate compliance requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a medical office assistant program.
• Healthcare management or administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Follow the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
• Support the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by understanding and following relevant laws, regulations, and policies and promptly reporting compliance concerns.
• Greet patients entering the physician practice.
• Answer office phones; make, confirm, and reschedule appointments as needed.
• Check in patients, collect accurate demographic information, enter data into the electronic system, and verify insurance.
• Assist with patient check-out, referral processing, and scheduling.
• Collect co-pays and post charges.
• Perform charge entry and patient balance processing.
• Provide patients with information about office policies, procedures, and the practice.
• Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal.
