About The Position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is a non-exempt medical office position responsible for front-office processes in a physician practice. The role supports patient-centered care by welcoming patients, coordinating appointments, handling registration and insurance verification, processing payments and charges, and providing information about the practice and patient portal.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a medical office assistant program.
• Healthcare management or administration certification.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, including its HIPAA Compliance Plan, Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement, and Corporate Compliance Program.
• Greet patients entering the physician practice.
• Answer office phones and make, confirm, or reschedule appointments as needed.
• Check in patients, collect accurate demographic information, enter data into the electronic system, and verify insurance.
• Assist with patient checkout, referral processing, and scheduling.
• Collect co-pays and post charges.
• Perform charge entry and patient balance processing.
• Provide patients with information about office policies, procedures, and the practice.
• Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal.
