About The Position

Briarwood Primary Care is comprised of two primary care providers and a nurse practitioner dedicated to Internal Medicine. The providers offer preventive, diagnostic, and chronic treatment to adults age eighteen and above.

The Patient Service Representative provides clerical support and is responsible for all facets of front desk operations. Duties include greeting and registering patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, entering patient charges and demographics, retrieving and updating medical records, collecting fees, and performing other general clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a health care setting performing similar functions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients and notify medical staff of their arrival.
• Verify patients’ current addresses and insurance status.
• Follow company procedures, referral requirements, and appropriate protocols for writing referrals.
• Schedule referral appointments with specialists, hospital testing, and lab work.
• Complete prior authorizations for testing according to insurance requirements.
• Check patients out of the office.
• Collect payments and schedule follow-up or specialty appointments as appropriate.
• Post charges to patient accounts when required, using appropriate diagnostic and CPT coding to ensure correct charging and posting.
• Maintain provider schedules and optimize appointment scheduling.
• Confirm appointments for the daily schedule.
• Assist in developing and implementing systems that support effective and accurate patient registration.
• Recommend ways to increase the efficiency of patient care or administrative functions.
