About The Position

Gastroenterology Health Partners is hiring a full-time Patient Scheduling Representative for its clinic in New Albany, Indiana. The role supports patients in navigating their care by coordinating office and procedure visits, maintaining referral and insurance information, and providing patients with forms, literature, and instructions. Candidates should have medical office experience and understand medical terminology; scheduling experience is a bonus. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal training and at least one year of experience as a medical assistant, medical secretary, health unit coordinator, nursing assistant, or in a similar role; alternatively, at least two years of experience involving patient care.
• For candidates qualifying through the alternative experience route: familiarity with medication names and purposes, a thorough understanding of basic medical terminology, basic knowledge of common diagnoses and surgeries, and patient health interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

• Update referral, demographic, and insurance information in the practice management database.
• Schedule office and procedure visits according to physician appointment parameters and preferences.
• Update referral and recall entries in the practice management system.
• Make decisions about safe procedure preparation and scheduling based on physician preferences.
• Provide patients with appropriate forms, literature, and instructions.
• Monitor the wait list and reports for follow-up appointments after clinic and endoscopy visits.
