About The Position

The Patient Registration Representative welcomes patients and visitors and provides a seamless, compassionate registration experience at Henry Ford St. John in Detroit. The role supports patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff by managing registration activities, verifying insurance eligibility, and advocating for patient needs. It contributes to a positive first impression and smooth access to care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors effectively over the telephone, in person, and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience related to patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility and verification in a hospital or medical office setting.
• EPIC training or experience.
• Familiarity with insurance payor systems and ICD-10 medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard operating procedures for patient registration, including face-to-face check-in and preregistration.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and manage cash collections.
• Accurately update patient registration and insurance information.
• Respond to inquiries from callers and customers, advocating on their behalf to meet their needs.
• Provide efficient and effective customer relationship management, instilling loyalty and anticipating needs.
