About The Position
The Patient Registration Representative is the first point of contact for patients and helps provide a smooth, welcoming, and efficient healthcare experience. The position is based in the Emergency Department at Detroit Hospital on West Grand Blvd. Responsibilities include patient registration, insurance eligibility verification, and cash collection, while advocating for patients’ needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience in patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility verification in a hospital or medical office setting.
- EPIC training or experience.
- Familiarity with insurance payor systems and ICD-10 medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Follow standard operating procedures for patient registration, including face-to-face check-in and preregistration.
- Confirm insurance eligibility and manage cash collections.
- Accurately update patient registration and insurance information.
- Respond to inquiries from callers and customers, advocating on their behalf.
- Provide efficient and effective customer relationship management, build loyalty, and anticipate needs.
