As a Patient Registration Representative, you help patients check into a hospital or lab, answer their registration questions, and collect patient and insurance information accurately and efficiently. The role combines computer and phone work with compassionate, in-person support for patients who may be ill, worried, or anxious. You will listen carefully, ask follow-up questions, and build rapport while helping patients complete registration. The work takes place in a busy, fast-paced hospital or lab environment. You will use multiple computer screens and programs, type while patients provide information, and coordinate registration around physician and nurse check-ins. Clinicians may interrupt the process to provide emergent care. The position often requires being on your feet and adapting quickly to variation in health plans, coverage, and patient needs. R1 provides training; previous healthcare experience or knowledge is not required. The job may expose you to illness and injuries. Before hire, you must be up to date on vaccinations and pass a drug test and background check.
