About The Position
Under RN direction, the Patient Observer provides constant observation to patients identified as a risk to themselves or others. The role provides care-related tasks according to each patient’s needs, maintains patient confidentiality, and follows hospital guidelines. The position is onsite at 81 Highland Avenue, with 16 scheduled hours per week on the evening shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to remain alert for extended periods of time.
- Ability to verbally calm patients.
- Ability to perform calmly and quickly in stressful situations.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
Nice To Haves
- Some healthcare experience (0–1 year preferred).
Responsibilities
- Maintain constant observation of the patient.
- Document the care of the patient under observation.
- Keep the nurse informed of changes in the patient’s condition.
- Assist the patient in the event of a fall.
- Receive and provide detailed handoff information to and from staff regarding the patient and their status.
- Assist with feeding patients as directed by the RN.
