About The Position

Patient Safety Attendants in the Nursing Resource Pool perform patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering the patient's age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They work with high-risk patients on suicide precautions and remain with and directly observe their assigned patient at all times. Meal and break times must be coordinated with the patient's nurse to ensure the patient is never unattended. The position is located at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, with shifts available from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Full-time and part-time team members are required to work every other weekend and holidays per year.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• CPR or BLS certification.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions.
• Every-other-weekend and holiday work per year is required for full-time and part-time team members.

Responsibilities

• Set up food trays and assist patients with eating.
• Assist patients with basic hygiene needs, including bathing and brushing teeth.
• Offer fluids to patients.
• Accompany patients on walks.
• Assist patients to the bathroom or a chair.
• Provide diversionary activities.
• Replace nasal cannulas.
• Reapply intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs).
• Remain with and directly observe the assigned patient at all times.
• Coordinate meal and break times with the patient's nurse so the patient is never unattended.
