Patient Care Technician-Surgical Stepdown-Nights
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care on the Surgical Stepdown unit at Evanston Hospital. This full-time role involves assisting with clinical and personal care tasks, supporting implementation of patient-specific care plans, and participating in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit. The technician contributes to safety outcomes and promotes a high-quality patient experience. The position is listed as 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekends. No travel is required. The hourly pay range is $19.71–$28.58; the rate offered depends on factors including expertise and years of experience.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience and/or prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure, 12-lead EKGs, bladder ultrasounds, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, and sterile specimen collection.
- Assist with bathing, bed care, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose monitoring, and feeding.
- Assist with admitting patients to their rooms and preparing patients for discharge.
- Perform other duties delegated by the registered nurse.
- Assist with implementation of patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
- Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience.
