About The Position
The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care in the Surgical Stepdown unit at Evanston Hospital. This part-time position is scheduled for 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekends and no required travel. The technician assists with implementation of patient-specific care plans and performs delegated activities that support the functioning of the patient care unit, patient safety, and a high-quality patient experience.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience and/or prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure, 12-lead EKGs, bladder ultrasounds, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, and sterile specimen collection.
- Assist patients with bathing, bed care, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose checks, and feeding.
- Admit patients to their rooms and prepare patients for discharge.
- Assist with implementation of patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in other activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
- Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience.
