About The Position

The Neuro Stepdown Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients. The role helps maintain a safe, healing environment and contributes to patient assessment by gathering and reporting clinical information and changes in patient condition. The 24-bed Neuro unit cares for patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, seizure, and multiple sclerosis, as well as general medicine patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision while promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and information and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
