About The Position

The Inpatient Surgical Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and helping maintain a safe, healing environment. The role gathers vital patient information and reports changes to the nursing team to contribute to patient assessment and care.

The position is on the Inpatient Surgical floor at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 68-bed unit that primarily cares for post-surgical patients and includes a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing. The schedule is part-time, 24 hours per week, on the night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with holiday and weekend rotation. The position is benefit eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and patient information, and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document provided patient care using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
