About The Position

The Inpatient Surgical Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses and promoting a safe, healing, patient- and family-centered environment. The role gathers clinical information that contributes to patient assessments and reports changes in patient condition to the nursing team. The Inpatient Surgical floor at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 68-bed unit caring primarily for post-surgical patients and includes a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision and promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living; perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document care provided using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as needed.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
