About The Position

The Inpatient Surgical Patient Care Technician supports licensed professional nurses in providing direct patient care and maintaining a safe environment. The role gathers and reports patient information that contributes to nursing assessments and helps identify changes in patient condition. Work is on Missouri Baptist Medical Center’s 68-bed Inpatient Surgical floor, which primarily treats post-surgical patients and includes a 10-bed Surgical Complex wing. The position is full-time at 36 hours per week, working nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with holiday and weekend rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living; perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure-ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
