About The Position
The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care in the Surgical Stepdown unit at Evanston Hospital. The role assists with a patient-specific care plan and supports activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit, contributing to safety outcomes and a high-quality patient experience. This is a 24-hour-per-week position with shifts Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and rotating weekends. No travel is required.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience and/or prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure; 12-lead EKGs; bladder ultrasounds; Foley catheter and IV adapter removal; sterile specimen collection; bathing; making beds; ambulating; turning; hourly rounding; blood glucose checks; feeding; admitting patients to rooms; and preparing patients for discharge.
- Assist with implementing patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in other activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
- Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience.
